Fishing the Albemarle and Roanoke Sound
The Sound is a body of brakish water (salt & fresh water mix) located west of the Oregon Inlet Bridge. Poor Ridge Charters fish from the Oregon Inlet bridge to Manns Harbor Bridge and some ocean fishing weather permitting.

WIDE VARIETY OF FISH
We have a wide variety of fish and depending on the season these are a few of the species that you will cast a line for:
Red Drum, Rockfish are also known as Stripers, Trout, Bluefish, Pompano, Spot, Croaker, Flounder…
When you embark on your adventure, you’ll have the chance to witness a variety of wildlife species thriving in their natural habitats, including birds such as Ospreys, geese, and pelicans, as well as sea turtles, hard crabs, and even the occasional rare shark, friendly dolphins may even swim up to our boat!
As we guide you through the local waters, we’ll also provide you with fascinating information about the area’s landmarks, such as the Bodie Island Lighthouse and Wanchese Marina – both of which are fan favorite.
Take a break
If you are looking to take a break from fishing and simply soak up some sun and water activities, we’re happy to take you to one of our many small islands or sandbars for some relaxation, swimming, and wading. We’ll even take you tubing behind the boat if you let the captain know! With something for everyone, our adventure promises to create lasting memories for your entire family.
